Birthday parties for children and young people
Most of us feel a deep sense of contentment and even exhilaration when spending time playing and exploring the natural world. This is especially true for children, so why not book a birthday party for them where they can spend time running wild with their friends in a natural setting.
These are flexible sessions which cater to the age, interests and energy levels of the group. I have a range of craft activities and games which can be worked into the day. I can also provide a tasty lunch of sausages warmed over the fire with salad and coleslaw.
Generally the timetable looks something like this:
- 10.00 Meet at entrance to woodland
- 10.30 Arrive at basecamp, introductions
- 11.00 Let kids loose in the woods (after brief safety warning!)
- 11.30 We light a fire to begin heating up lunch. Kids can help look for sticks, or continue free play
- 12.00 Lunch
- 12.45 Start chosen activity (See below)
- 2.00 Finish up activity, hike out of woods
Possible activities:
- Flower crown making with weaved willow
- Wand Whittling (with veg peelers for younguns)
- Den building
- Survival fire lighting
- Wide games (such as Capture the Flag, Cardines etc)
- Nature/foraging walk
- Tataki-zomé flag making (involves smashing up flowers with mallets)
At least 1 adult helper/parent per 2 children should be present. All appropriate safety precautions have been taken and Joe will give safety talks and lay out the ground rules when we get to camp, but parents are responsible for their children’s safety and well being.
Pricing
Minimum charge for a 4 hour party including lunch is £270. This covers up to 8 kids and 8 adults. Additional children are then £15 (max 12 total) and adults £10.
Flower crown making and Tataki-zome will be charged at an extra £2.50 per person, whether child or adult.
Outlined above is a general plan and pricing range, however these days are flexible and bespoke.
